The King Abdullah Ear Specialist Center organizes the 17th annual meeting of cochlear implant patients and their families

Today, Thursday, 03 Rajab 1441 AH, corresponding to February 27, 2020, at King Abdulaziz University Hospital in Riyadh, King Abdullah Specialist Ear Center organizes the activities of the seventeenth annual meeting of cochlear implant patients and their families under the patronage of the Director of King Saud University, Professor Dr. Abdul Hamman Al Muammar on the occasion of the International Day for Cochlear Implantation, which corresponds to 25 February every year.

In this context, Dr. Abdul Rahman Hajar, head of the King Abdullah Specialist Center for Ear, said: “The 17th annual meeting of cochlear implant patients and their families for this year witnesses the participation of a selection of pediatricians, speech and language specialists, audiologists and representatives from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Social Affairs, with Cochlear implants and their loved ones.

He explained that this meeting witnesses many activities that contribute to answering the inquiries of cochlear growers and finding solutions to their questions about cochlear implantation in the treatment of deaf cases, and a turning point for the individual to receive votes so that a productive person in his community becomes able to learn, and thus development, through the linguistic and auditory rehabilitation of the patient .

He stressed that these meetings would enhance the role of the patient and their relatives in the rehabilitation process and its importance, and how to work on scientific grounds to reach the best results, revealing that job opportunities were provided in coordination with the Sa’i Charitable Society for Cochlear Implants in the Kingdom.

The head of the King Abdullah Specialist Center for the Ear stated that the meeting includes educational and educational lectures on technical support for the devices by the manufacturers of the shell, in addition to the presence of activities for children that contribute to their support at the psychological level through seeing successful experiences of other children whose cochlear implants have been made and they lead a normal life, The meeting will be accompanied by an exhibition exhibition in which a group of international companies specialized in the cochlear industry participated, notably Medel from Austria, who exhibited its latest products during the exhibition, indicating that the aim of the meeting is education and education to reach a healthy and educated community of cochlear growers.

Dr. Hajar thanked Dr. Tawfiq Al-Khurizi, ear consultant, cochlear implant, and Dr. Saad Al-Anzi, co-ear consultant and cochlear implant, for their efforts in organizing this important meeting.

It is mentioned that cochlear implant devices are witnessing a continuous development in their manufacturing processes using modern techniques that are easy for farmers to deal with, such as controlling the electronic cochlear device remotely via an application that can be installed from the internet in addition to communicating with the bluetooth headset without wires.
