The director of the King Abdullah Specialist Center for Ear in the University Medical City, Dr. Abdul Rahman Hajar, confirmed that hearing disabilities are one of the most prevalent physical disabilities (2 out of every 1000) born with a hearing disability, which constitutes 10% in the world, noting that the genetics factor It has a significant impact, stressing the importance of early detection and treatment before the patient’s fifth birthday.
This came during the activities of the “16th Forum for Cochlear growers and their families” under the slogan “implantation of life”, and the accompanying exhibition on cochlear and ear health, which was opened by the Director of King Saud University, Dr. Badran bin Abdul Rahman Al-Omar.
For his part, the Deputy Medical Director of King Abdulaziz University Hospital, a consultant for ear surgeries and cochlear implants at the center, “Dr. Farid Al Zahrani” said that the center witnessed remarkable progress in the field of cochlear implants and hearing aids, as it contains the latest devices in this field and is shared by high medical cadres that made The center is a destination for international hospitals in treating its patients.
