General / Opening of the Cochlear Implant Forum at King Saud University

His Excellency the Director of King Saud University, Dr. Badran bin Abdul Rahman Al-Omar, opened the activities of the “16th Forum for Cochlear growers and their families” under the slogan “implantation of life”, and the accompanying exhibition on cochlear and ear health, organized by King Abdullah Ear Specialist Center at the University Medical City.
The director of the center, Dr. Abdul Rahman Hajar, explained that the hearing disability is one of the most prevalent physical disabilities (2 out of every 1000) children who have a hearing disability, which constitutes 10 percent in the world, indicating that the genetics factor has a great impact.
He stressed the importance of early detection and treatment before the age of five for the patient.
For his part, the deputy medical director of King Abdulaziz University Hospital, a consultant for ear surgeries and cochlear implants in the center, Dr. Farid Al Zahrani, said that the center witnessed remarkable progress in the field of cochlear implants and hearing aids, as it contains the latest equipment in this field and shared by high medical personnel that made the center a destination for international hospitals In treating her patients.
And that the center is not limited to the therapeutic side only, but it has scored successes in publishing distinguished medical research in the most prestigious international journals with a high classification besides training and graduating highly qualified surgeons to ensure the quality of the medical services provided.
After that, His Excellency the President of the University, Dr. Badran Al-Omar, opened the awareness exhibition accompanying the forum on cochlear and ear health.
