Recently, a consultative meeting was held at King Abdulaziz University Hospital in Riyadh, which included experts from all parts of the Arab world in all areas related to hearing disability, including ear, nose and throat doctors, rehabilitation specialists, audiologists, primary care physicians and education specialists for this category.
The members of the delegations gave a brief explanation of what each country has achieved in this area. Experiences were exchanged, difficulties were analyzed, and ways of solving them in the most effective way.
The meeting included an explanation of the great role played by the World Health Organization in this field, and the importance of involving it in exchanging experiences and facilitating global communication among the close countries.
The head of the Saudi Society for Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Dr. Abdul Rahman Hajar said that King Saud University holds the banner of hearing disability in our dear kingdom, in order to establish it for the largest program of headphones cultivation in the Middle East, and one of the ten largest global programs in this field, beneficial that this program conducts all types of implants for hearing disability Including cochlear implantation, splendor, vibrating stethoscope, hybrid and brainstem, to provide all global medical solutions to this disability.
He pointed out that King Saud University has established the only fellowship in the region to allocate precision ear surgeries, which qualifies national cadres to create specialized programs parallel to the university in covering all regions of the Kingdom in the near future, in addition to the Prince Sultan Chair, which has contributed greatly to communication with society and to communicate the importance of these Disability for officials, the result of which was the establishment of the King Abdullah Specialized Ear Center, which will be a national reference for all citizens from all parts of the Kingdom, in addition to being an educational and research center paralleling international centers in this field.
